“These pages are rough drafts of songs from my musical Practical Anatomy, which was produced in January 2006 at Chicago’s Storefront Theater. I’d written music idly for years, but when I got a pocket music notebook - a birthday present from my mother - my songwriting really took off.”Elizabeth Bagby is an artist in Chicago. She writes fiction, nonfiction, and scripts for stage and screen. She also performs in local theatre and independent film.

“Often I jot lyrics on one side of a page spread, and then make notes about melody on the other side. Just having staff paper with me all the time has made a huge difference in the amount of music I write.”
